Description of smooth geomembrane hdpe liner:

Smooth Geomembrane hdpe liner begins with the melting of the High-density polyethylene resin and the addition of various additives such as antioxidants, plasticizers, fillers, carbon black and lubricants (as processing aids) , used as an impermeable base material. Its impermeable performance mainly depends on the impermeable performance of the geomembrane. At present, the geomembrane used for anti-seepage applications at home and abroad. They are a kind of polymer chemical flexible material with small specific gravity, strong extensibility, high adaptability to deformation, corrosion resistance, low temperature resistance, and good frost resistance.

 FAQ

 What's geomembrane?

The geomembrane used as an impermeable base material, and is compounded with a non-woven fabric,called ”composite geomembrane”. Its impermeable performance mainly depends on the impermeable performance of the geomembrane. At present, the geomembrane used for anti-seepage applications at home and abroad mainly include high density polyethylene(HDPE),Low-density polyethylene(LDPE), Linear Low Density Polyethylene(LLDPE),polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene (PE), EVA (ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer), and ECB (ethylene vinyl acetate modified) is also designed for tunnel applications. Asphalt blend geomembrane), they are a kind of polymer chemical flexible material with small specific gravity, strong extensibility, high adaptability to deformation, corrosion resistance, low temperature resistance, and good frost resistance.

Common uses

To get a better idea of what you can use a geomembrane for, here are just some of the most common uses::

1. HDPE geomembrane is suitable for environmental protection and environmental sanitation: such as landfills, sewage treatment plants, power plant regulating tanks, industrial, hospital solid waste, etc.;

2. LDPE anti-seepage film is suitable for water conservancy projects: such as anti-seepage, plugging, reinforcement of rivers, lakes, reservoirs and dams, anti-seepage of water channels, vertical core walls, slope protection, etc.;

3. HDPE anti-seepage membrane is used in municipal engineering: subway, building underground engineering, planting roof, roof garden, sewage pipe anti-seepage;

4. Polyethylene anti-seepage membrane is suitable for gardens: artificial lakes, rivers, reservoirs, pond bottoms of golf courses, slope protection, green lawns, etc.;

5. High-density polyethylene geomembrane is suitable for petrochemical: chemical plants, oil refineries, oil storage tanks, chemical reaction tanks, linings of sedimentation tanks, secondary linings, etc.;

6. Polyethylene geomembrane is suitable for mining: washing tank, heap leaching tank, ash dump, dissolving tank, sedimentation tank, storage yard, anti-seepage of the bottom lining of tailings, etc.;

7. Low-density polyethylene film is suitable for transportation facilities: road foundation reinforcement, culvert anti-seepage;

8. LDPE anti-seepage film is suitable for agriculture: anti-seepage of reservoirs, drinking water ponds, storage ponds, and irrigation systems;

9. HDPE film is suitable for aquaculture industry: intensive, factory farming ponds, fish ponds, lining of shrimp ponds, sea cucumber ring slope protection, etc.;

10. High-density polyethylene anti-seepage membrane is suitable for salt industry: salt field crystallization pond, brine pond thatch cover, salt film, salt pond plastic thatch film.

What are the classifications of geomembrane?

Geomembrane can be divided into LDPE geomembrane, LLDPE geomembrane, HDPE geomembrane, EVA geomembrane, ECB geomembrane, PVC geomembrane, rough surface geomembrane, etc. according to different resin materials. The difference in geomembrane performance mainly comes from the difference in the performance of resin raw materials.

1. LDPE geomembrane is mainly made of polyethylene, ethylene, ethylene polymer and other materials. On the basis of absorbing the flexibility of the previous geomembrane, it also increases its good extensibility and ability to adapt to deformation. Greatly increase its waterproof and anti-seepage ability.

2. The original material of LLDPE geomembrane is linear low-density polyethylene. LLDPE products are non-toxic, tasteless and odorless, and are milky white particles. Compared with LDPE, it has the advantages of high strength, good toughness, strong rigidity, heat resistance, cold resistance, etc. It also has good resistance to environmental stress cracking, tear resistance, and resistance to acids, alkalis, organic solvents, etc.

3. HDPE geomembrane, whose original material is high-density polyethylene, is a white powder granular product, non-toxic and odorless, with a density in the range of 0.940~0.976 g/cm3. It has good heat resistance and cold resistance. It has good chemical stability, high rigidity and toughness, and good mechanical strength. It has excellent resistance to environmental stress cracking, low temperature resistance, aging resistance, corrosion resistance, and a large operating temperature range (-60--+60) and a long service life of 50 years. It is widely used in domestic waste landfills. Anti-seepage of the field, anti-seepage of solid waste landfill, anti-seepage of sewage treatment plant, anti-seepage of artificial lake, and anti-seepage projects of tailings treatment.

4. EVA geomembrane, its original material is ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, water resistance: airtight cell structure, non-absorbent, moisture-proof, and good water resistance. Corrosion resistance: resistant to chemical corrosion such as sea water, grease, acid, alkali, antibacterial, non-toxic, odorless, and pollution-free. Processability: No joints, and easy to process such as hot pressing, cutting, gluing, and bonding. Anti-vibration: high resilience and anti-tension, high toughness, good shock-proof and cushioning performance. Thermal insulation: excellent thermal insulation, cold-preservation and low-temperature performance, and can withstand severe cold and exposure. Sound insulation: airtight cell, good sound insulation effect.

5. ECB geomembrane, its original material is ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, it has excellent flexibility, cold resistance, elasticity, stress crack resistance, light specific gravity, especially suitable for waterproof material on the inner surface of the vault. The ECB waterproof board has a thickness of 0.6-2.0mm, an amplitude of 2.0m-4.2m, and a length of 20-100m.

6. PVC geomembrane, whose original material is polyvinyl chloride, is mostly used in construction materials.

7. Rough surface HDPE geomembrane is a new type of impermeable material. HDPE geomembranes such as single-rough surface and double-rough surface have increased friction coefficient and anti-skid function, which are more suitable for steep slopes and vertical seepage prevention and improve engineering stability.

Seam Strength & Related Properties of Thermally Bonded Polyolefin Geomembrane

The fundamental mechanism of seaming polymeric geomembrane sheets together is to temporarily reorganize the polymer structure (by melting or softening) of the two opposing surfaces to be joined in a controlled manner that, after the application of pressure, results in the two sheets being bonded together. This reorganization results from an input of energy that originates from either thermal or chemical processes. These processes may involve the addition of additional polymer in the area to be bonded.

Ideally, seaming two geomembrane sheets should result in no net loss of tensile strength across the two sheets, and the joined sheets should perform as one single geomembrane sheet. However, due to stress concentrations resulting from the seam geometry, current seaming techniques may result in minor tensile strength and/or elongation loss relative to the parent sheet. The characteristics of the seamed area are a function of the type of geomembrane and the seaming technique used.

How is geomembrane produced?

The manufacture of geomembrane begins with the melting of the raw material resin and the addition of various additives such as antioxidants, plasticizers, fillers, carbon black and lubricants (as processing aids). These raw materials (ie "formulations") are then processed into sheets of various widths and thicknesses by extrusion, calendering and/or coating.
