1.Description of smooth geomembrane hdpe liner:

Smooth Geomembrane hdpe liner begins with the melting of the High-density polyethylene resin and the addition of various additives such as antioxidants, plasticizers, fillers, carbon black and lubricants (as processing aids) , used as an impermeable base material. Its impermeable performance mainly depends on the impermeable performance of the geomembrane. At present, the geomembrane used for anti-seepage applications at home and abroad.they are a kind of polymer chemical flexible material with small specific gravity, strong extensibility, high adaptability to deformation, corrosion resistance, low temperature resistance, and good frost resistance.

2.Features of smooth geomembrane hdpe liner:

HDPE Liner FAQ

Comparison of hdpe liner and lldpe, rpe

HDPE Liners

Advantages

Excellent chemical resistance

Good UV resistance

Relatively inexpensive

Weldable

Fish safe

Very durable

36+-year lifespan when covered

Performs well in cold temperatures

Disadvantages

Poor flexibility

Susceptible to puncture

Heavy weight makes it more expensive to ship, difficult to install

No custom fabrication; must be welded on-location

Prone to scratches from rough surfaces

Poor resistance to stress cracking

May expand in very high temperatures

LLDPE Liners

Advantages

More flexible, easier to stretch, and conform better to uneven terrain than HDPE

Easier to install than HDPE, especially around corners

Relatively inexpensive

Weldable

Fish safe

Very durable

36-year lifespan when covered

Decent UV, chemical resistance

Less prone to stress cracking than HDPE

Disadvantages

Susceptible to length-wise tears and permanent deformation

Heavy weight makes it more expensive to ship, difficult to install

No custom fabrication; must be welded on-location

Not quite as resistant to UV rays, chemicals, and oxidation as HDPE liners

May expand in very high temperatures

RPE Liners

Advantages

Extremely durable

Strong and puncture resistant

Thinner and lighter than other liners, making them easier to ship and install

Weldable

Fish safe

Good UV, chemical resistance

Fairly foldable

Disadvantages

Relatively stiff

More expensive than other types of liner

Lack of research on expected lifespan

hdpe liner development history

Since the early 1980s, HDPE has been the geomembrane of choice in landfills applications across the world—with EPA and the German equivalent, UBA, leading the research and development toward improved waste containment strategies.

Before the 1980s, landfill containment, if any, was mostly done using a compacted clay liner (CCL), often obtained from the chosen dump site. CCLs can be quite effective at achieving low permeability values, but came with two significant drawbacks: the sheer volume required and susceptibility to chemical reactions. For clay liners to work, they had to be between 600 mm and 1,500 mm thick—a significant amount of volume that could have been used toward containing the waste itself. Additionally, clay liners have been shown to be subject to chemical reactions and subsequent shrinkage. Bentonite clay, for example, can be ruined by low-confining pressure and substitution of the sodium ion with calcium or magnesium.

Clay’s chemical susceptibility ultimately prompted the EPA to impose changes, including a mandate that would require a geomembrane liner in all landfills.

hdpe liner installation specification

Pond liners can be purchased in pre-cut materials, or can be custom manufactured for more specific or larger projects.

Pond liners are large, foldable sheets made of either plastic or synthetic rubber. Depending on the material, some companies can custom manufacture liners for individual ponds in-factory. In other cases, you'll have to hire professionals to form a complete pond liner by joining multiple sheets in the field using methods like welding or taping. A liner material's pliability, weight, and thickness all influence how difficult it is to install and what you can do with it.

The material you choose should balance these traits in the way that works best for your pond. Your liner should be flexible enough to mold to conform to the contours of your pond, but not liable to stretch to the point of deformity. Thicker liners may last longer in general, but thicker doesn't always mean stronger. And a liner's UV and ozone resistance may determine whether you need to cover it or can leave it exposed.

Precautions for geomembrane welding

1. The joints of the HDPE geomembrane should be free of oil and dust. The overlap section of the HDPE geomembrane should not be covered with sand or other debris. When there is debris, it must be cleaned up before welding.

2. At the beginning of the welding every day, a test piece of 0.9mm×0.3mm must be welded on-site first, with a lap width of not less than 10cm, and peel and shear tests on-site with a tensile machine . After the sample is qualified, it can be adjusted at that time. Good speed, pressure, and temperature are welding. The date, time, and ambient temperature must be marked on the sample. During the welding process of the hot wedge welding machine , it is necessary to pay attention to the operation of the welding machine at any time and to fine-tune the speed and temperature according to the actual situation on the spot.

3. HDPE geomembrane welding seams are required to be neat, beautiful, and free of slip welding and skipping.

The joints of the HDPE geomembrane should be free of oil and dust. The overlap section of the HDPE geomembrane should not be covered with sand or other debris. When there is debris, it must be cleaned up before welding.

4. When the length of the HDPE geomembrane is not enough, it needs to be spliced in the long direction. The transverse welds should be welded
